In 2014, John Mercanti made history as the first former U. Mint Chief Engraver to design a coin for a foreign mint. 9999 fine silver with a maximum mintage of 5,000, this special release is also the first 3 oz silver coin in the Wedge-Tailed Eagle series.

Obverse - The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Dan Thorne, along with the inscriptions "CHARLES III, " "AUSTRALIA, " and 3 DOLLARS. It also bears a special privy mark depicting a wedge-tailed eagle about to land on the branch of a dead tree. Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, the reverse features a majestic and highly detailed wedge-tailed eagle, its wings outstretched against a "sunburst" pattern background. It also features a special "P125" mint mark above the tip of the raptor's right wing.

The inscriptions include "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, " "10TH ANNIVERSARY, " and 2024 3oz 9999 SILVER. Each coin is presented in an elegant Perth Mint display case lined with black velvet and the mint's logo in gold stitching.

The coin is encapsulated for protection and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. First introduced in 2014, the Wedge-Tailed Eagle series marked the first collaboration between Australia's Perth Mint and 12th Chief Engraver of the U. This marked the first time a U. Mint engraver designed a coin for a foreign mint.
